Communities Minister Shows Support
Communities Minister Gordon Lyons visited the Carrickfergus Tall Ship Project’s final Community Drop-In Session. As part of the visit, Minister Lyons viewed the artefacts and images which formed part of the temporary exhibition in Carrickfergus.
Following the visit, Minister Lyons encouraged others to show their support for the project on his Facebook page. Minister Lyons said:
“It’s been great to meet with representatives from Mid and East Antrim Borough Council and The Carrickfergus Tall Ship Project in recent months to offer my support for the campaign to bring the Schooner Result back to Carrickfergus.
The ship is currently sited at Ulster Transport Museum and was built by renowned local shipbuilder Paul Rodgers in 1893; it is the last surviving Carrickfergus built ship from this era. #BringHerHome”
Minister Lyons also took the opportunity to hear more about the work of undertaken so far by the project team and its ambitions for the future of the Result and Carrickfergus.
